Cara Kelly's Story

As a young child, I immediately took an interest in the great outdoors. A majority of my time was spent either shooting my bow or running around our property in northern Michigan. At the age of three, I took an interest in archery due to my father’s love for bow hunting. Little did we know that interest would turn into a lifelong obsession with the sport.

At the age of five, I attended my first local archery tournament. I remember specifically asking my dad what was wrong with my tummy. His response? “Honey, those are butterflies.”

I went on to compete in my first national event at the age of ten and won my first World Championship just two years later.

This led to a drive to become the best. I wanted to be a professional archer someday. I wanted to hold a big check and compete against the best in the world. That dream became a reality in 2004 when I joined the professional ranks.

During these years my interest in turkey and whitetail deer hunting became more of an obsession as well. Having grown up around hunting all my life, I enjoyed the time spent in the woods to reflect on life and help provide and put meat on the table for all of us to enjoy. The time I spent in the woods hunting is something that I still cherish to this day and now that I have two children of my own, I enjoy sharing my love for the great outdoors with them.

I’ve been blessed beyond belief in my professional archery career having won more national and world championship events than any other women professional 3-D archer.
